Rather than binging on fast food, opt for whole foods like green vegetables, lean proteins and fresh fruit. This can help reduce signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, blotchiness, uneven tone, dry skin and psoriasis.

Avoid foods that are high in sugar, as they can accelerate the glycation of your cells, including those in the skin. In addition, try to get enough sleep, and drink plenty of water, as this helps hydrate the skin from the inside out. Finally, be sure to use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer that is suited for your skin type. Avoid showering or bathing with hot water, as this can dehydrate the skin. Use a humidifier in dry climates, and choose soaps or lotions that are gentle on your skin.

The skin is the largest organ in the body, and it protects us from disease, infection, sun, pollution and weather. To keep it healthy, hydration is key. Drinking plenty of water can help, but it’s also important to use a moisturizer that doesn’t clog pores. Look for the words “noncomedogenic” on a product label. A good routine includes a CTM (cleansing-toning-moisturizing) regimen, as well as avoiding too much time in the sun and not sleeping on dirty pillowcases. This can lead to dry, scaly skin that is itchy and flaky. It is best to take short, cool showers or baths.
